About
Genevieve
Genevieve Hayden is a Registered Social Worker in Ontario with a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto. She works with children, adolescents, adults, and parents who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted, and who are seeking support through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, identity questions, emotional regulation challenges, and major life transitions.
Genevieve brings a warm, compassionate, and deeply relational approach to therapy. She believes that healing begins when people feel safe enough to be fully themselves, and she works at a pace that honours each client’s unique experiences, needs, and hopes for change. Therapy with Genevieve is collaborative and supportive, with a strong focus on building trust, emotional understanding, and resilience.
A central focus of Genevieve’s work is supporting parents and caregivers, particularly during the perinatal and early parenting period. She has extensive experience walking alongside families through birth trauma, NICU stays, perinatal mood and anxiety challenges (PPD/PPA), grief and bereavement, and the often complex transition into parenthood. Genevieve also works closely with children and adolescents, helping them navigate anxiety, big emotions, self-esteem concerns, identity development, and the impact of family or medical stress.
Genevieve draws from a range of evidence-based approaches including Emotion-Focused (Family) Therapy (EFT/EFFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, and compassion-based practices. She tailors her work to each client’s age, developmental stage, strengths, and lived experience.
Alongside working at Daurio Counseling as a clinician and in private practise, Genevieve is a Clinical Social Worker at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), where she supports infants and caregivers in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and across acute care settings. Her hospital work has shaped a deep respect for the emotional impact of medical experiences and the resilience of families facing uncertainty.
Genevieve is committed to creating an inclusive, non-judgmental, and emotionally safe space where both adults and children feel seen, supported, and valued.
